A comprehensive interior design program for a 12 year-old architect-designed and environmentally-friendly home for clients who were downsizing.
The comprehensive interior design program included reviewing the space planning and refining the layout of the kitchen, laundry, bathrooms, walk-in-robe, entertainment unit and fireplace as well as adding additional storage.
Working with the contemporary style of the house, the new scheme aimed to lighten the overall feel of the house, integrate all of the design elements and introduce new joinery, fixtures, fittings to create a more contemporary neutral back drop for the owner’s collection of furniture, books and artwork.
In respecting the original architectural concept of the house a number of the original structural forms were retained, but removed if they obscured the ‘good bones’ of the house. In their place, new forms were generated to enhance the cohesion of a new interpretation for the building.
